How the underground ran
Solana’s 1/1 underground from 2021–2023 was not a marketplace homepage. Drops were coordinated in artist and collector Discords, then blasted on X: Holaplex store links in 2021, Formfunction auctions through 2022, Exchange Art after Formfunction died. SHILLzine (@Pixeltoy / @ShillZine) was the weekly index. Twitter Spaces (and later Exchange Art office hours in Discord) were the oral culture.

DAT Abstract lists a self-employed woodworking role starting Jun 2020: “Explores the complex beauty in data manipulation and complex mathematic systems: by letting go of simplicity, we let the numbers reveal themselves.” Skills listed alongside NFT artist include woodworking. This is the method statement before it had a chain — physical/data work, not a 2020 NFT drop.

32 of 55 signatures are Metaplex Bubblegum MintToCollectionV1 / MintV1 (Jan–Mar, Jun–Aug). June txs carry UUID memos (bdaa13a0-…, eba1b929-…) — the DRiP-style claim pattern. The mint wallet is acting as a collector of compressed drops, not minting GEN 1 cryptoCANDLEs. One related token in-wallet is already labeled DRiP Season 1.

A 2 Jan 2024 Bubblegum tree tx touches mint F9xmyn… labeled “MFI.EXPERT WHITELIST” on Magic Eden. Outlier: DeFi/allowlist collectible, not the data-art catalog.

25 Jun 2024 the wallet hits ARTd5DH… Remove/whitelist instructions (Exchange Art artist whitelist program). That is the only 2024 marketplace-program touch besides later shutdown cleanup.

Caveats
- The public handle is @dat_a_bstract. Searches for @DATAbstract collide with unrelated accounts.
- DAT.XYZ (New Fungus Tokens, Ethereum) is a different studio.
- A Revolt user “datAbstract” in Andrew Tate’s The Real World (airdrop farming, late 2023) is not this artist.
- Matrica user DATAbstracted looks like a collector / alt holding DATAbstractors, Typestracts, Particles, Ministry of Art keys — not proven to be the same person.
- Discord from 2021–2023 is not publicly searchable. Scene coordination is reconstructed from X, SHILL, FRAKT, Holaplex on-chain, and how those platforms actually operated.
- Most GEN 0 tokens still show primarySaleHappened = false and sit in the mint wallet. A few lightCURVE pieces are listed by other owners, so some work did leave. Magic Eden returns no public activity feed for the collection.
- 2024 Bubblegum activity is collector-side compressed claiming (DRiP-pattern UUIDs, MFI whitelist), not a second generative drop from this update authority.
- 2020 has zero on-chain records for this wallet. The only dated pre-history is the June 2020 LinkedIn woodworking / data-manipulation role.
- “Prominent” here means documented inside the Solana 1/1 underground (SHILL, FRAKT Sandbox, Holaplex OG, Saturday rolls) — not a PFP-era headline name.
